On March 8, 2023, Aaron L. Hammer and Rick S. Rein joined the Law Firm Alliance (LFA) for their Bankruptcy Community Meeting to discuss cutting edge legal issues in cryptocurrency bankruptcy cases. In January 2023, Aaron Hammer, Tom Goldblatt and Tony Nasharr co-hosted their Second Annual Midmarket Deal Makers Symposium in Miami Beach with over 100 senior professionals and corporate executives in attendance at the SLS South Beach. Over 40 firms sponsored this year's Symposium including FTI Consulting, Oxford Restructuring Advisors, CIBC US, Gowlings WLG and Summit Investment Partners, among many others.

U.S. corporate bankruptcy filings with over $1 billion in liabilities reached a 7-year low in 2021, and the market saw record-setting M&A levels, making for a rosy and optimistic 2022 outlook. However, since early February, markets have become much more volatile. Inflation and interest rates have risen, and many other global factors, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, pandemic, supply chain issues and labor shortages, remain tenuous.

For three days in December 2021, Aaron Hammer, Tom Goldblatt and Anthony Nasharr co-hosted the Inagural Mid-Market Dealmaker Symposium at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach. The Symposium was attended by over 80 active dealmakers across industries, with 15 financial sponsors including CIBC, Riveron, HMB Legal Counsel, Ravinia Capital, Raymond James and Polsinelli. Aaron both moderated a panel of M&A experts on transaction trends and the M&A market, and was interviewed onstage with Anthony Nasharr of Polsinelli and Hugh Wilder of CIBC on their respective professional careers.

Aaron Hammer and Nathan Delman explore the past, present and potential futures of the so-called “equitable mootness” doctrine, which limits a litigant’s right to appeal bankruptcy court orders. They will discuss this doctrine through the lens of their involvement in the Eighth Circuit FishDish case, where the panelists represented equity holders and successfully advocated against the doctrine, leading the Court to nearly abolish the doctrine from its jurisdiction.
