“To listen well is as powerful means of communication and influence as to talk well.”
–John Marshall

Aaron devotes his legal practice to solving his client's most challenging insolvency and creditors' rights issues by emphasizing a practical, business-oriented, relationship-based approach in both distressed transactions and related litigation. Over twenty-five years, Aaron has led major engagements on behalf of corporate borrowers, lenders and financiers and, most notably, bankruptcy committees in hundreds of significant bankruptcies and workouts across the country and in many foreign countries. He is a partner with the international law firm of Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton, LLP ("Kilpatrick") in its Bankruptcy & Reorganization practice group.

Aaron's core legal practice involves the representation of:

  • Corporate borrowers and their lenders, vendors and other major parties-in-interest in out-of-court workouts, reorganizations and chapter 11 bankruptcies across the country
  • Bankruptcy committees - both official and unofficial - to preserve and enhance recoveries for their constituents in significant chapter 11 proceedings
  • Chapter 7, chapter 11 and liquidation trustees as well as post-confirmation plan administrators in complex regional and national bankruptcy cases

Prior to its merger with Kilpatrck, Aaron was a partner at HMB Legal Counsel, chaired the firm's national Bankruptcy, Reorganization, and Creditors' Rights practice group and served on its Executive Committee.

Previously, Aaron was a name partner at Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Hammer LLP and Chairman of its Executive Committee. Twice, he led his firms in receiving the Turnaround Management Association's ("TMA") prestigious Large Transaction of the Year award. In 2014, the award was granted for his work on behalf of the official equity committee for AgFeed Industries USA, LLC, et al. (Bankr. D. Del.), and in 2009, the award was given for his representation of the official creditor's committee in Trinsic, Inc. (Bankr. S.D. Ala.). In 2020, Aaron and his team received TMA's prestigious Small Business Turnaround of the Year for its turnaround of RED South Beach (f/k/a RED, the Steakhouse - Miami Beach).

Aaron began his career at Mayer Brown & Platt LLP where his first major case, Bank of America vs. 203 N. LaSalle St. Partnership, established seminal U.S. Supreme Court precedent on chapter 11 reorganization plans, on an 8-1 decision in his client's favor. Over the next twenty years, Fortune 500 companies such as Accenture LLP, AT&T Inc., Marsh & McLennan Companies, Bank of Montreal, Deloitte LLP and American International Group, Inc., among many others, regularly turned to Aaron to solve problems in some of the most contentious bankruptcy cases and insolvencies in history. In these representations and all others, Aaron has been guided by a singular principle: RESULTS MATTER
