Hammer has been named an "Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyer" for 2010 following a nationwide selection process by Turnarounds & Workouts, a monthly newsletter that tracks distressed businesses in the United States and Canada. In receiving this prestigious distinction, Mr. Hammer joins elite company as one of only 12 attorneys under 40 years of age selected for this annual award from throughout the country.
He was recognized for serving as a restructuring counsel to the principals of Wiseman-Hughes Enterprises; counsel to the official creditors' committee of Arch Aluminum & Glass and Arena Football League; U.S. counsel to Bank of Montreal in cross-border restructuring of Menu Foods; and outside bankruptcy counsel to Accenture, The Warranty Group and Mercer in dozens of high-profile cases.
This award follows Mr. Hammer's recent selectino as a "Leading Lawyer in Field" by Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business in its 2010 publication. In may 2009, he was awarded Large Transaction of the Year by the Turnaround Managment Association's Chicago/Midwest chapter for his role as creditors' committee counsel in In re Trinsic, Inc. (Bankr. S.D. Ala.). In September 2009, he was selected as one of 2009's "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" from more than 20,000 eligible lawyers by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer.
